Cyber Monday No Longer the Biggest Online Holiday Shopping Day

According to eMarketer the day after Thanksgiving, long referred to as ‘Cyber Monday’, is no longer the online shopping day of the holiday season. Last year it was the next Monday, which eMarketer refers to as eDay, which took the throne as the biggest online shopping day with sales 22% higher than Cyber Monday. And eMarketer expects the trend to continue this year with sales 19% higher on Dec. 4 than Nov. 27.
the eMarketer article also points to a survey completed by Shop.com which says only 6% of online shoppers are procrastinators. Of course this runs counter to a study by JupiterResearch that says more than 1/3 of online shoppers will continue shopping online after missing the ground shipping cutoff.
Either way, Shop.com also says 21% of shoppers fall under the “one for you, one for me” category which means only good things for online retailers. We’re getting down to it, so good luck and let the games begin.
