Higher Income Online Shoppers More Likely to Look for Bargains

It is no surprise that online shoppers want to find bargains. However, one would normally think that low income online shoppers would be most interested in the good deals and low prices. Not so, reports Internet Retailer. Price is more important to higher income online shoppers:
Respondents in the two highest income brackets were significantly more likely to cite price as their top priority than those with lower incomes.
Indeed, the study cited by Internet Retailer found that among those with incomes of $50,000 to $75,000 were more likely (53% of respondents) to say that price was the most important factor in an online purchase. By contrast, only 37% of those with incomes of less than $25,000 listed price as the most important factor.
This could be good news for your ecommerce business, especially if you want to target the higher income shoppers. Savings promotions online will bring in those with higher incomes, who may be more willing to buy other products on your ecommerce Web site if you can offer them good bargains. Additionally, added-value promotions and offerings can further draw higher income online shoppers to your ecommerce site.
Other factors of importance to online shoppers:
- Free shipping
- Coupons and promotions
- Product reviews and recommendations
