Symantec Releases Security Blanket for Online Shopping

Symantec will begin selling software today designed to protect consumers from identity theft while shopping online, according to CNET. However, the Norton Confidential software is still listed as a pre-order product on the Symantec website. Whether it is truly for sale or not, the software is designed with website authentication, antiphishing and password encryption technology.
What does this technology mean? Well customers can now “Bank, shop, and transact online with confidence, knowing your passwords and other personal information are safeguarded from online identity theft.” Not exactly a groundbreaking idea, but if Norton Confidential catches on it may help bring more customers to online retail. Don’t forget that half of all Internet users are still too afraid to use their credit card online. Here’s some more information from the Norton Protection Blog.
