“Hold On, Boss… I Just Found a Great Deal on a Flight to Vegas…”

It turns out that many of your co-workers may not have been devoting their full attention to that last important conference call. Instead, they may have been distracted by searching for deals, comparing prices, and going through checkout. An Ipsos Insight/Bill Me Later survey released earlier today discovered that over 12 millions Americans shop online during work-related conference calls - and many do it repeatedly. 23% of workers admitted to doing it five or more times over the course of a year, while 12% confessed to shopping on a conference call over ten times. Approximately one million of the people surveyed have been caught in the act, but in most cases, that doesn’t seem to deter them. Instead, customers report discussing their potential purchases and asking for advice.
It seems that soon we’ll be seeing announcements plastered all over eCommerce sites, “Now Optimized for Conference Call Shopping!”

I would like to see some research done on the percentage who shop vs. those who surf Facebook or play online games while on conference calls!

Vendors should provide sale pricing from 9-5 to take advantage of this trend.
