New Site Release: Skooba Design

If you’re in need of a great-looking new bag to protect your laptop, camera or other electronics, check out Varien’s newest site release, Skooba Design. Built on Varien’s high-end backend, Skooba Design includes a variety of custom features on both the front and backend.
By implementing a Quickview feature on the product listing pages using AJAX, customers can view the product, select the product’s options, and add to cart without having to go to the product info page. The site also features an AJAX shopping cart, allowing customers to add items to the cart and review the cart without ever disrupting the shopping experience. The shopping cart also includes an upsell feature for further product promotion. When a customer needs to check out, they have the option to check out as a guest using the site’s guest checkout.

To make it easier for customers to browse, we’ve included a lightbox slideshow for product photos, allowing customers to easily click through multiple images on a product’s page. We also developed a custom Laptop Bag Finder for the site, allowing customers to input their laptop’s dimensions and easily find products in the store that fit their laptop.

If a customer wishes to buy offline, a custom store locator tool will help them find the closest brick and mortar outlet to do so.
The site features an Affiliate System as well, allowing Skooba to give a product link to an affiliate and then track orders coming from that affiliate. Along with this detailed Affiliate Report, Varien has included a variety of useful reports including one to track cart abandonment. The site’s backend also includes the ability to create custom promotions, including free shipping coupons, buy X get Y free (for example, “Buy 2 get 1 free”), and gift certificate functionality.
So if you’re looking for a laptop bag or simply want to see some of these great features in action, visit Skooba Design and tell us what you think!

shannon, the second link to skooba design is not right.
i went to the website, it’s great
just one thing: i didnt understand first why it was written stock:excellent. i guess now it means there are lots of those in store. but i still think using the word ‘excellent’ isn’t ideal. it may relate to the product’s actual quality or the store’s shape, not the quantity itself.

Heri,
Thanks, that link is fixed. I think they wanted to convey, like you said, that there’s a lot in stock. Maybe a better phrasing would be Stock Status: Excellent.
Anyone else have fun ways to communicate how much stock you have of an item on the frontend?

The session cookie seems to indicate that this is a customised OSCommerce site?
None of the pages I looked at had a description meta tag - what’s the thinking behind that?

@Dean - We typically don’t handle data entry for our clients. If meta data is missing, they probably have not updated it yet
