Who’s Looking at Your Ecommerce Products?
One of the most popular ways for online shoppers to get their holiday shopping done is to look at comparison Web sites. As you search for better ways to market your ecommerce products, it is a good idea to think about where your target demographic is shopping. Chances are, according to Internet Retailer , they’re not going to your ecommerce Web site first thing.
But there is a divide. The stats reflect that among older comparison Web sites, like Yahoo Shopping and NexTag, the share of online shoppers 18-44 is declining. Young shoppers are instead moving to newer comparison Web sites like FindGift.com. While younger online shoppers skew newer, though, older online shoppers are sticking with the tried and true older sites.
Internet Retailer reports:
At the same time, the composition of those visitors is changing markedly, becoming significantly older. Hitwise finds that 51% of the visitors to those dozen sites were 45 and older, compared with 38% last year. Among web users 55 and older, the market share of the 12 top comparison shopping sites was up 56%, but it was down 27% among web users aged 25 to 34.
Be aware of who is looking at your ecommerce products — and where they are more likely to look to in order to find them.
